Event Description
In this interactive keynote, we'll cover what the rise of Generative AI programs like ChatGPT and Claude mean for the future of authentic assessment. We'll begin by covering some basics of the technology, with a specific focus on the challenges it brings for assessing students' knowledge and skill. After that, we will cover a menu of options for adapting our own assessments for AI — including AI-embedded assignments, process-focused assignments, and more. Our goal is to improve our assignments, both my making them more pedagogically sound and by discouraging the over-use or misuse of AI.
About our Presenter

At Berkeley, he is the chair of the AI and Academic Integrity Committee, as well as a member of the AI Task Force. Event Description
Designing courses that prepare students for the future (which contains technologies and other changes we cannot foresee) begins with a foundational question about our course goal and then aligning our assessments with that goal. These assessments engage students with skills that they will need in their future and minimize cheating.
About our Speaker
Suzanne Wakim has been teaching since 2000 and has taught almost all of the classes in the Biology Department. Suzanne has taught, designed and created many different biology courses for biology majors, non-majors and pre-health professional students.
