Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

City College:

  1. Saville Theatre Renovation: A hazardous material survey and testing took place from Jul. 13–16.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: A Design Development (DD) phase meeting with the dean was held on Jul. 14. The 100% Schematic Design (SD) milestone sign-off and approval was completed on Jul. 15.
  1. Harry West Gym: The swing space was returned to service following floor refinishing on Jul. 16.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Athletics Complex: A hazardous materials report was received on Jul. 14. A pre-construction meeting for potholing and sewer camera inspections was held on Jul. 14, followed by the start of site investigations on Jul. 15.
  1. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: The Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting was held on Jul. 13. A fourth SD workshop was held from Jul. 15–16 with all 10 stakeholder groups.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Comments from DSA were received and reviewed, and the plans were resubmitted on Jul. 17. Development of the prequalification and bid strategy continued.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS-100) Building: The final addendum was issued on Jul. 17.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Emergency Generator Replacement: The final addendum was issued on Jul. 17.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Early Education Center: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) submitted the 100% DD deliverable on Jul. 13.
  1. Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE submitted the 100% DD deliverable for district review during the week of Jul. 13.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The district reviewed the 100% SD deliverable during the week of Jul. 13. The DBE met with district facilities to better understand the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems of the design on Jul. 14.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gates Replacement (G3 and G4) Building: The final addendum was issued on Jul. 17.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: Focus group meetings were held as follows: Culinary Arts on Jul. 13, followed by Student Support Services on Jul. 14. A design pull planning workshop was held on Jul. 16.
  1. West City: The SD deliverable and cost estimate were received from the DBE on Jul. 16.
  1. CE Harbor View Parking Garage Doors & Gates Replacement: The final addendum was issued on Jul. 17.
  1. CE-Wide Lighting Inverter and Batteries Replacement: Bids were received on Jul. 17 for the replacement of emergency lighting inverters and backup batteries that provide power to designated emergency lighting during outages.

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: A tenant improvement meeting will be held at the president’s office on Jul. 21, followed by a DD workshop series with Enterprise Services on Jul. 23.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Design Center Improvements: Development of bid documents, including logistics and phasing plans, will continue during the week of Jul. 20.
  1. Athletics Complex: Potholing, electrical, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) site investigation work is ongoing. The DBE is working on the 100% SD deliverable due Jul. 20.
  1. Mechanical Unit Replacement at Allied Health Education (S-100) Building: Board approval for MMJ Construction will be presented at the Board Retreat Meeting on Jul. 23.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A project coordination meeting is scheduled for Jul. 22. The 100% SD deliverable is due on Jul. 24.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS-100) Building: Bid submissions are due on Jul. 24.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Emergency Generator Replacement: Bid submissions are due on Jul. 24.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Mechanical Upgrades at Science (S6) Building: The project is scheduled for consideration at the Jul. 16 Board of Trustees meeting, with a recommendation to award the contract to Able Heating and Air Conditioning.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE will meet with campus leadership to discuss the all-gender restroom approach during the week of Jul. 20.
  1. Aviation Instructional Center: The district will review the 100% DD deliverable during the week of Jul. 20.
  1. Early Education Center: The DBE will continue development of the Increment 2 100% DD deliverable during the week of Jul. 20, incorporating geotechnical recommendations. To ensure consistent gas utility service, SDG&E will need to provide a revised design for the existing gas line.
  1. Diesel Technology Mechanical Rooftop Unit (RTU) Replacement (C-1) Building: The district’s review comments on the 90% CD are due by Jul. 24.
  1. Parking Structure (G3 and G4) Garage Overhead Door Replacement: Bid submissions are due on Jul. 24.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. Promotional Banners: The project is scheduled for consideration at the Jul. 16 Board of Trustees meeting, with a recommendation to award the contract to Sign Age Identity for the design and production of branded banners that promote SDCCE’s identity and programs across multiple campuses.
  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A sustainability alignment meeting is scheduled for Jul. 20. An Emeritus and DSPS focus group meeting is scheduled for Jul. 20.
  1. West City Expansion: A stakeholder design meeting is scheduled for Jul. 22.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre Renovation: A landscape design meeting is scheduled for Jul. 23.
  1. CE Harbor View Parking Garage Doors & Gates Replacement: Bid submissions are due on Jul. 24.

  1. Contractor Outreach and Networking Event: The district will host a contractor outreach and networking event at the North City Campus on Jul. 22. The event is intended to connect small, diverse contractors with project and construction managers overseeing capital renovation and modernization projects across the district. Nearly 100 attendees have registered.
