Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: The Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting was held on Jul. 20, followed by pre-bid site walks from Jul. 21–23. A Design Development (DD) workshop with Enterprise Services was held on Jul. 23 to gather input from campus safety on incorporating safety features into the project design.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Athletics Complex: The 100% Schematic Design (SD) milestone deliverable and estimate was received on Jul. 20. The 100% SD page-turn review was held on Jul. 21.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Development of the prequalification and bid strategy continued. Comments from the DSA were received and reviewed, and plans were resubmitted on Jul. 22.
  1. Mechanical Unit Replacement at Allied Health Education (S-100) Building: A recommendation to award the contract to MMJ Construction was presented at the Board Retreat meeting on Jul. 23.
  1. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: A project coordination meeting was held on Jul. 22. The 100% SD deliverable review was held on Jul. 24.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS-100) Building: Bid submissions were received on Jul. 24.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Emergency Generator Replacement: Bid submissions were received on Jul. 24.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Diesel Technology Mechanical Roof Top Unit (RTU) Replacement (C-1) Building: The district’s review comments on the 90% Construction Documents (CD) were received on Jul. 24.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gates Replacement (G3 and G4) Building: Bid submissions were received on Jul. 24.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A sustainability alignment meeting and an Emeritus and Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS) focus group meeting were held on Jul. 20. A geotechnical preliminary review was held on Jul. 23.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre Renovation: A landscape design meeting was held on Jul. 23.
  1. CE Harbor View Parking Garage Doors & Gates Replacement: Bid submissions were received on Jul. 24.
  1. ECC Room 76 Air Conditioning Unit (ACU) Upgrade: Construction began on Jul. 24.

 

Other District Locations:

  1. Districtwide Lighting Fixture Assessment: Site surveys with Shadpour Engineers began at City College and are expected to continue through Aug. 7.
  1. Police Investigations Office Buildout: Construction was completed on Jul. 22.

 

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: A president’s review meeting is scheduled for Jul. 27. An overview of the project’s DD phase progress will be presented to the deans on Jul. 28.
  1. Hardscape Improvements: A punch walk will be scheduled in late July.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Mesa Commons Envelope Leak Mitigation: Construction mobilization will begin on Jul. 27.
  1. Athletics Complex: A page-turn review of the 100% SD deliverable with the district is scheduled for Jul. 29. Construction cost estimate reconciliation with Kitchell CEM estimating will continue.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The 100% SD deliverable is due on Jul. 27, followed by a page-turn review with the district design team on Jul. 29 and the district facilities team on Jul. 30.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Development of bid documents, including logistics and phasing plans, will continue.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The district and campus will review the SD deliverable. The Design-Build Entity (DBE) will revise the design to reflect the preferred exterior rendering and meet again with the campus to present an updated design.
  1. Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE will continue development of the 100% DD deliverable.
  1. Early Education Center: The DBE will continue development of the Increment 2 100% DD deliverable. In response to the geotechnical recommendations, SDG&E will need to provide a revised design for the existing gas utility line to ensure adequate coverage.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A focus group meeting with Student Support Services is scheduled for Jul. 28.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Facilities: A DBE scoring matrix review is scheduled for Jul. 29.
  1. ECC Ceramics: Advertisement for bids is scheduled to be released on Jul. 31.
  1. Hardscape Improvements and Trip Hazard: A punch walk is tentatively scheduled for the end of July.

 

Other District Locations:

  1. Police Investigations Office Buildout: Furniture mobilization is scheduled to begin on Jul. 27.

 

Key Items of Interest:

  1. Contractor Outreach and Networking Event: The district hosted a contractor outreach and networking event at the North City Campus on Jul. 22. The event connected small, diverse contractors with project and construction managers overseeing capital renovation and modernization projects across the district. More than 130 attendees participated.
  1. Campus Lighting Luminosity Study: Full proposals for all campuses were received on Jul. 24.
